Fandom inspired snark meets stationery.

Four Oh Seven Studios is a handmade stationery brand with a love for playful design and clever fandom references. Everything is created with a mix of quirk, care, and just the right amount of attitude, from sassy notebooks and planners to the cutest bookmarks you’ve ever seen. As the shop evolved and her product line grew, it was the perfect time to refresh the brand into something that better reflected her personality and the creativity behind each item.

This project was extra special to me. I teamed up with my mom to revamp the branding for her small but mighty stationery shop. While her products feature deep-cut references to fandoms like Psych, Supernatural, and BTS, the brand identity needed to lean more into the world of stationery itself: fun, approachable, and full of personality. I ditched the original logo I designed for her back in 2019 and started from scratch with updated typography, illustrated icons, and hand-drawn brand patterns inspired by notebooks, bookmarks, and all things paper goods. The final look feels cohesive, fun, and totally her, setting the stage for her fandom-inspired products to shine.

We wanted the logo to immediately communicate what Four Oh Seven Studios is all about—handmade, playful notebooks with tons of personality. The squiggly line, inspired by the spines of her journals, became the foundation of the brand: a visual thread we could carry throughout the entire identity. Paired with an inviting script and clean sans-serif, the logo captures the fun, creative energy of the shop and brings a sense of movement that reflects the hands-on, personal nature of each product.

To keep things flexible, I created a set of alternate logos for different uses, including a text-only version, stacked version to use in more vertical spaces, and a playful lockup of the tagline. Each piece keeps the same fun, doodle-inspired personality.

Custom hand-drawn icons—including notebooks, pencils, and doodles—add extra personality to the brand. These elements also come together to create a fun pattern that brings a "doodles on a notebook" vibe to the full system.

The brand typography mimics the feeling of doodles and handwritten notes. Two playful fonts pair with a clean sans-serif to bring balance and readability. The color palette leans into the world of stationery with shades like Paper, Eraser Dust, Highlighter, Sticky Note, New Page, Coffee Stain, Gel Pen, and Felt Tip. A mix of bright oranges and greens with a pop of pink and warm neutrals combine to give the brand an energetic, yet cozy feeling.

I designed Four Oh Seven’s Etsy profile and cover graphics, along with a receipt banner and About Us image, to create a cohesive and welcoming shop experience. The goal: make every interaction with the brand feel as fun as filling up your notebook!

We couldn’t build a brand without bringing the experience through to her packaging! Custom thank you cards were created to help show appreciation for each and every order, and branded packaging elements like stickers and pattern packing tape elevate the entire shopping experience and make it memorable for the customer.

“Working with Sam on my shop’s rebrand was such a great experience — not just because she’s family, but because she’s truly a talented and thoughtful designer. From the start, she came in with fresh ideas and really listened, even when I wasn’t totally sure how to explain what I wanted. She designed my original logo years ago, so it felt really special to have her lead the rebrand now. The new logo, color palette, icons, and patterns she created totally blew me away — they’re vibrant, fun, and just feel right. It finally feels like my brand fits me: quirky, approachable, and unique.

The whole process was super smooth and easy to follow. She explained everything clearly, gave me tools I actually use, and made sure I felt included every step of the way. Since the rebrand, I’ve felt way more excited and confident sharing my business. It’s even sparked new energy in how I show up on my shop. The new look truly helps me stand out — and more importantly, it feels like me. I can’t recommend Sam enough. She’s got an amazing eye, a warm and collaborative approach, and a real knack for turning your ideas into something better than you imagined. And yes — I’m also a proud parent. 😊”
