Hey! I’m Sam.

…but you probably guessed that. I’m the designer and creative problem solver behind Sam Mickley Design.

I’ve been creating brands and websites for nearly a decade, starting my freelance journey right after earning my BFA in Communication Design from Kutztown University while building my career in the agency world. After years of working with all kinds of industries and clients, I realized the part I love most isn’t just the design—it’s the people behind it. The stories, the ideas, and the passion that make each business unique.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or ready to take your business to the next level, I want to be the person in your corner cheering you on, solving problems with you, and creating something you’re excited to share with the world.

In 2023, after a whole series of big-ass life changes, I decided to take a chance on myself and turn Sam Mickley Design into my full-time job.

I've always loved working directly with clients, removing the barrier between designer and entrepreneur, and creating a more personal, collaborative experience. I get to wear all the hats, dive into every detail, and see a project through from that first spark of an idea to the final launch.

Another big reason I started Sam Mickley Design was because I wanted more balance in my own life. I absolutely love what I do, but I also love traveling, taking morning walks, spending time with my dogs, and saying yes to little adventures whenever I can. Running my own business gives me the flexibility to build a career I'm proud of while still making room for the things that make me feel like me.

I also know my clients have lives outside of their businesses, too. I respect their time, keep things as simple as possible, and strive to make the design process feel exciting—not overwhelming. At the end of the day, I just love helping people build something they're proud of, while enjoying the journey along the way.

When I'm designing, I'm most likely blasting music and singing at a volume that makes my neighbors wonder if it’s a good time to move (which is also why I’m better suited to work from home instead of a shared office…).

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me hanging out with my dogs, crafting, at a concert, taking a walk, planning my next trip, or thinking about all the things I should probably be doing but definitely am not.
